2007年の始め，TaxaCom メーリングリスト（→ トップページ）の開設20周年に言及して，次のように書いたことがある：
体系学メーリングリスト〈TaxaCom〉が開設されて今年で20周年というアナウンスがあった．ぼくは知らなかったが，この〈TaxaCom〉の投稿群を“科学社会学”的に分析した研究があるそうだ：「Taxacom and systematics: a summary」．こういう研究者［電子］コミュニティの実例は［科学］社会学者にとっての格好の素材となるのだろう．（dagboek：2007年1月14日付）
いまチェックしたところ，「Taxacom and systematics: a summary」という記事へのリンクは切れているようだが，この社会学的研究の集大成は，次の新刊として出版されることになった：Christine Hine『Systematics as Cyberscience: Computers, Change, and Continuity in Science』（2008年3月刊行，The MIT Press［Series: Inside Technology］，320 pp.，ISBN:9780262083713 [hbk] → 版元ページ）．コンピュータやインターネットの利用が個別科学の実践にどのような影響をもたらしつつあるか，を生物体系学を事例研究として考察するという趣旨の本のようだ．もちろん，David Hullの『Science as a Process』と同じく，“ハエ”たちは自分たちを研究材料とみなす“ハエの帝王”に文句を言うにちがいない．
著者 Christine Hine は，今回の新刊に先立って，いくつかの関連記事を書いていて，それらはpdfで公開されている：
