実物はまだ手にしていないが，改訂された本書ではたくさんの適用例が載っているそうだ．なお，地震の発生確率を逆ガウス分布と結びつけ，地震研究の分野で「BPT分布」という名称を広めた元論文は：M. V. Matthews, W. L. Ellsworth, and P. A. Reasenberg 2002. A Brownian model for recurrent earthquakes. Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 92(6): 2233-2250 → pdfのようだ．
