これはみごとな昆虫学史本．カバージャケットは主人公である昆虫学者 Karl Jordan によるヒトリガ（Arctia caja）のコレクション．学術書の場合，以前なら図書館用ハードカバー版と量販用ペーパーバック版の二本立てだったが，本書はハードカバー版と電子版の二本立てだ．ペーパーバックが電子本に置き換わるという趨勢があるのか．まあ，ワタクシはもっぱら「紙」のハードカバー版を選ぶ人なので，ペーパーバック版が電子本に置換されても大きな影響はないんだけどね．
