とても大きなベアトリクス・ポッター伝『Beatrix Potter: A Life in Nature』（2007年1月9日刊行，St. Martin's Griffin，ISBN:0312369344）を昨年出した Linda Lear は，ちょうどその10年前に，同じくらい厚いレイチェル・カーソン伝を書いている．このカーソン伝は600ページを越える大著だったが，入手した正月休みに読み切った記憶がある．いま確認してみたら，この本の書評はメーリングリストには流したが，ウェブではまだ公開していなかった．この伝記は翻訳がすでに出版されている：リンダ・リア［上遠恵子訳］『レイチェル：レイチェル・カーソン『沈黙の春』の生涯』（2002年8月26日刊行，東京書籍，797 pp.，ISBN:4487796334）．まさに電話帳なみ．
